What is codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH and what it is used

Codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH is a medicine that acts against cough, mild pain and diarrhea.

It is used in the treatment of:

Irritative cough unproductive;

-Durerilor Moderate (usually in conjunction with an antipyretic analgesic, such as paracetamol or acetylsalicylic acid);

-Cazurilor Selected diarrhea in adults.

Before using codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH

Do not use codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH

if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to codeine or any of the excipients;

-if you have severe respiratory failure; tracheobronchial hypersecretion; asthmatic cough or bronchial asthma;

-if you have diarrhea acute poisoning, subocclusion or bowel obstruction or have had recent surgery biliary (bile increase pressure);

-if you comatose state;

-if you are pregnant and do not have medical approval to use the drug;

-if breast-feeding;

-If the patient is a child under 6 years.

Take special care with codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH

Codeine not be used for a long time because of the risk of development of dependency.

Administration of codeine in any form is contraindicated in children less than one year. How to use Codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH

Always use Codeine phosphate LPH 15 mg exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Adults: The recommended dose is 15-30 mg codeine phosphate hemihydrate (1-2 Codeine Phosphate Tablets 15 mg) administered every 6-8 hours.

Children (over 6 years): the recommended dose for 24 hours is 2-3 mg codeine phosphate hemihydrate / kg in divided doses every 4-6 hours, not to exceed a maximum dose of 6 mg codeine phosphate hemihydrate / kg for 24 hours and codeine phosphate hemihydrate 1 mg / kg as a single dose.

If you use more than you should codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH

If you have used codeine phosphate 15 mg more than the recommended dose, contact your doctor immediately, or emergency room department.

Acute intoxication with codeine is manifested by depression of the respiratory center (cyanosis, slow breathing, apnea), apathy, drowsiness, even coma, miosis, seizures, phenomena histamines (facial swelling, itching, nettle rash, hypotension), vomiting, urinary retention, pulmonary edema (rare).

Treatment consists of gastric emptying and respiratory assistance. In severe poisoning is used as an antidote naloxone.

If you forget to codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The possibility of addiction is relatively small when codeine is used at the recommended doses limited time. The risk of dependence increases to administered high doses for long periods.

As adverse reactions were reported relatively frequently, drowsiness, mild headache, constipation, nausea and vomiting (the latter especially at baseline). Rarely produce sleep disturbances, tinnitus, dry mouth, dyspnea, severe allergic reactions very rarely. High doses can cause euphoria, visual disturbance, spasms of the intestinal smooth muscles and bile, hypotension, syncope, respiratory depression, pulmonary edema, increased smooth muscle tone of the bladder.

How to store codeine phosphate 15 mg LPH
